Of late I am getting chance to watch some movies that I have not been able to watch. One of them was DOR. A movie I quite often heard of from "n "no. of ppl but hardly got the chance to watch. Post watching the movie, I never thought that a script and the characters can pose so much of effect on an individual.
The movie questions infinite traditions and have left them unanwered. The story is abut two women - Pure and chaste. However fate brings them together and Nagesh Kukoonoor has then added his flavor. The reactions of the characters have been amazing, and Ayesha was amazing in a soft and suttle look. She is a widow. In Rajesthan, a widow is a home of broken and shattered dreams. She not only loses her husband but also her licence to live and be oneself. This aspect is really highlighted well in the movie. There is a burden of tradition that can be easily broken by her father-in -law for the need of money. The movie questions a miserable condition of the life of a widow.
I particularly liked the climax, a heart-wretched woman who forgives every1- her husband's killer, her corrupt father-in -law and also her friend. A heart so big and so pure that one would love the character again and again....
The miserable state of a widow is rightly reflected in the plot ..
Salutations to Nagesh, Ayesha, and Girish Karnad. Girish had a small role but the ease with which he portrayed the same was awesome. Gul was flat in most of the scenes, without any expressions. Show stealer was Shreyas Talpade.. Simple and vulnerable that made him likeable
Rating for the art: 4.5/5
